brazil music

Hi. I need some help on information about Brazil. It’s a project I’m working on. I’m looking for info that only locals would know or any travel stories would be cool too.
So, I need some help about the following:

The people:
– What are they like? (please don’t just say “friendly”)
– How to they act with foreigners/visitors?
– How do teens in Brazil act? What do they do for fun?
– How do people greet each other? Gestures, actions etc.
– What’s the social scene like? Nightclubs, night life; dating etc.
– Any other facts would be great.

The Place:
– Beaches – what are they like? What’s the surf like? Best places to surf?
– Climate and weather?
– Need info on Salvador most especially, but info on Rio, Copa, Sao Paulo or anywhere else would be great too.
– What are the towns/cities like?
– Places for sightseeing? Trendy places, shops?

Culture and Food:
– Any traditional customs?
– How do people dress normally? What’s considered casual / formal?
– Local dishes / delicacies? Common snacks etc.
– Carnival – where is it usually held? What does it involve? What do you see?
– Music and dance ~ what kind of dances? What music?

Sports:
– How big is capoeira really? Can you see locals doing it on the street, on the beach or wherever?
– Football? Street soccer? Who, what, where?
– other commonly played sports?

I think that’s all I need at the moment :P
Thanks to all who help!

samba dancing

I really don’t want to do this over the top first dance but my fiance has his heart set on it & is the only thing he has requested. He was adopted (with his twin brother) so they don’t know their cultural background.

My parents are from Argentina so he really wants to do the Tango but I don’t think it fits with our wedding. It’s going to be more tropical, outdoors, orchids & such and it seems like the dramatics of the Tango would be out of place. I suggested the Samba.

Here’s an example of the Tango:

And here’s an example of the Samba:

brazil music

I have some friends who are from Brazil who now fight professionally in U.S.A. and they always speak about how fun and cool it is in Brazil. It got me interested in going to Brazil for travel and maybe if i like it to live there. So I wanted to know the following questions from people who live / lived in Brazil , or have been there.

1)How is life in Brazil?

2)Would you recommend Brazil as a place to travel and explore.

3)Are the people friendly and fun?

4)As a foreigner would I be able to have a good time/ make new friends.

Just turned 18, moved to USA 3 years ago from Asia.

P.S. I am talking about wholesome fun. By fun I am talking about the simple pleasures of life Beach, Futbol, Music, Girls, Party. (Not a dirty old man kind of fun)

Well, let me know thanks!=)

If they had the Olympics for Music?

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

brazil music

So while watching the Olympic Games get progressively lamer(Rhythmic Gymnastics and Trampoline? f’rill?) I figured, “why NOT send musical artists to Beijing and light it up”…
anyway, if each country sent musicians to the Sound Olympics, who’d win it? USA? Great Britain? Brazil?
