So the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame isn’t just for rock artists?

It seems every day this week there have been arguments as to whether or not Madonna should’ve been inducted into the R&RHOF. We can all agree that she’s accomplished a lot and been one of the most successful musical artists, but most of us rock fans know full well she has no place in rock. Many people have argued that the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame isn’t just for rock artists. Well, answer me this…Why in sam heII is it called the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME???
Spooky / rckets – I guess because Jann was so involved in Rolling Stone magazine, he probably considers himself some kind of expert on rock. Perhaps that’s why it’s called the Rock & Roll HOF. But clearly, it’s just the Hall Of Wenner’s Favorite Artists.

Mike – I wouldn’t count on any of those bands making it in, unless Jann is a fan…and I doubt he is.

In my opinion the RARHOF is a sellout like many of the artists they let into it. Plain and simple, money.

i totally agree with you mr. bateman…anyone who gets radio play these days are almost guaranteed a spot into it…its sad…

I think you just nailed what the biggest problem of all is. You want to put Madonna in? Great. Michael Jackson? Super. Then just call the freaking thing what it is, as in the Rock & Pop HOF. You would certainly put an end to some of the debates as to their worthiness for induction. So why the inaccurate name? Only Jann Wenner knows for sure and you’ll never get a straight answer out of that fool.

I wish I knew the answer to this, cause I’ve wondered myself. It seems that they just lump all the music together and start inducting. I really think they should change it to the Rock and Pop hall of fame, unfortunately, the opinions of people like us don’t matter.

I’m still trying to figure out how the Dave Clark Five got inducted. They were relevant for about 2, maybe 3 years. I’d only recognize one of their songs, and that’s only because Kiss covered it. Seems to me they *might* belong in the Hall of Very Good for a Very Short Period of Time.

I mean, if the Dave Clark Five gets in, don’t you have to start inducting the likes of Huey Lewis & The News too?

….. and still we wait on bands like Deep Purple, Kiss, Heart, Cheap Trick, Rush, etc. etc.
