Which decade of music is the best to worst (60′s, 70′s, 80′s, 90′s, 2000′s)?
ByHere is my personal listening preference (best to worst):
90′s > 80′s > 70′s > 60′s > 2000′s
I think the 90′s was the best because it had the influence of the 60′s-80′s + the rock was harder and more refined than ever before. Staple 90s artists include Alice In Chains, Nirvana, STP, Metallica, Soundgarden, Offspring, Weezer, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Gin Blossoms, Green Day, & Bush. While the 70s had Zeppelin and the 60s the Beatles, I don’t think there were as MANY artists that were great to choose from. The 80s were odd at times but had some memorable hard rock and of course the origins of music videos. However, the music of today is unoriginal and all about selling radio hits and not about artist creativity. Rock music is too heavy and droning, pop revolves around American Idol-esque artists, and punk is nasaly and whiny. There isn’t anything creative anymore it seems. And I’m not a big rap guy but even rap was best in the 90′s (e.g., Tupac, Biggie), but s***s today. Thoughts??
Make sure you are reporting you LISTENING PREFERENCE, not what you think had the most influence or was the most important historically. Sure, everyone can cite the Beatles, Zeppelin, and The Who as the forefathers of today’s music. But I like listening to Metallica and Alice In Chains better, for example.

90′s > 80′s > 70′s > 60′s > 2000′s
Wow, I think you are 100% correct. I think the 90′s was more wholesome musicwise and I like old school rap but not today’s crap. The 80′s were great, (in fact its almost level with 90′s for me) coz it was quirky with all the pop/punk/dance thing going on. 70′s was just good rock. 60′s I don’t care for much, and 2000′s….gezuz.
Actually, its not all bad, just as long as you stay away from comercial crap, there is still some good stuff out there.

Chronological order as it is.
60′s rule because that was the REAL root of the stuff we have today. 2000′s s*** because we’re only in 2008 and still haven’t come up with anything to counter the blues and jazz gods.
Oh, and you forgot to mention the Who, Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Doors, Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel, Slade, Tears for Fears, Tangerine Dream, Vince Guaraldi (writer of the Peanuts theme tune), Yes, Satriani (’87), Janis Joplin, and Joni Mitchell.
